Granhult’s church is the oldest wooden church in Sweden. It’s from 1220’s and have been very well conserved. There is only around 10 other churches like this one in Sweden!

Facts
Granhult used to be its one parish but it was merged with Nottebäck’s parish in 1837. The bishop in Växjö wanted to destroy the old wooden church but the farmers refused. They started to store their grains in the church and saved the church from destruction.

There is a parking space nearby the church.
Directions
Granhult’s church is located 40 km northeast of Växjö. Take road 23/37 towards Oskarshamn. At the interchange in Nottebäck turn left towards Lenhovda. Drive 4,5 km to Älmhult and look for the white sign that says “Granhults k:a”. Turn there and follow that road for about 1 km.
