Hässlen naturreservat
- Nature reserve
- County: Dalarnas län
Actions
Description
Hässlen was originally an old Finnish village. In the past, large deciduous meadows were mown here. There are still small areas in the northern part that are mown every year to maintain biodiversity. Other parts of the old meadows are grazed by sheep. Hazelnuts are liked by the rare nutcracker
In Hässlen there are plenty of hazel bushes. Around 20 pairs of nuthatches nest in the adjacent spruce forest and feed during the winter on hazelnuts that they have collected and hidden.
The hay meadow grows, among other things, spurge, field gentian and sedge. In spring, a dense carpet of bluebells grows.
