Description
The dramatic nature of the cave mountain is characterized by rocky outcrops and large boulders piled up to form cave formations. In the adjacent valley grows sparse coniferous forest. There are also older large oaks and a lot of hazel. Some parts of the central parts of the valley are wet and resemble a marsh. Unusual species of fungi, lichens, mosses and insects occur in the reserve. Several species of bats also thrive here.
The area is quite difficult to access. But if you manage to make your way through, you will be rewarded with cool nature experiences. On the slopes towards Långsjön, you can try to make your way through a maze of boulders that create small caves. If you want to enjoy the fantastic view of Långsjön, the easiest way to climb the mountain is from the western side. There are also traces of a medieval fortress. Good to know is that during the summer there are plenty of ants at the foot of the mountain and the caves. So if you want your coffee in peace, the mountain is the best place.
The Grottberget nature reserve was established in 1996, is 5.3 hectares in size and is managed by Södertälje municipality. Each nature reserve has specific regulations for the public. Please read these before you visit the area.

Directions
There is no parking lot and a private road leads to the reserve. On the last kilometer of the private road, unauthorized motor traffic is not allowed so from here you must walk. Parking along the road before the barrier may only be done in such a way that no danger arises and that others are not hindered or disturbed. If there are many people visiting the reserve, you may need to park further away on the road. You must not park in such a way that entry and exit to properties is made difficult.

Helt magisk plats. Många små grottor. Spännande för både vuxna och barn.
