Description

Frodeparken is a beech forest reserve where some thirty rare organisms have been found, including coral sponge, mountain mushroom and beech feather moss. On the ground there are plenty of traces of prehistoric cultivation, known as cultivation cairns or clearance cairns. The Hallandsleden trail runs through the area and it is easy to walk in the beech forest.
At first glance, it is easy to believe that the beech forest may not be home to many species. But under the leaves that form a carpet on the ground and in the trees hides a myriad of life. Old, living beech trees and dead, standing and lying trees provide habitat for mosses, lichens, fungi and insects. Many of these species are sensitive to disturbance and have found refuge in Frodeparken's old-growth forest.

In the 17th century, Frodeparken was part of a large contiguous beech forest area that remained intact until the mid-19th century.   • without the permission of the County Administrative Board, organize competitions or other activities that may cause soil wear or may disturb wildlife,
  • to carry out scientific studies that contravene the regulations without the permission of the County Administrative Board.
