Beskrivelse

Frodeparken is a beech forest reserve where some thirty rare organisms have been found, including coral sponge, mountain mushroom and beech feather moss. On the ground there are plenty of traces of prehistoric cultivation, known as cultivation cairns or clearance cairns. The Hallandsleden trail runs through the area and it is easy to walk in the beech forest.
At first glance, it is easy to believe that the beech forest may not be home to many species. But under the leaves that form a carpet on the ground and in the trees hides a myriad of life. Old, living beech trees and dead, standing and lying trees provide habitat for mosses, lichens, fungi and insects. Many of these species are sensitive to disturbance and have found refuge in Frodeparken's old-growth forest.

There has been forest here for a long time

In the 17th century, Frodeparken was part of a large contiguous beech forest area that remained intact until the mid-19th century. It is the long and unbroken history of the beech forest in Frodeparken that is the main explanation for the rich plant and animal life. There are also plenty of clearance cairns on the ground, which are traces of prehistoric cultivation. With the help of spades, shovels and manual labor, stone has long been quarried from the fields. Imagine what hard work it must have been to pick up all this stone and put it in a pile.

Frodeparken is located in Falkenberg municipality.By foot: Hallandsleden runs through the reserve.

Forskrifter

To protect the nature reserve, the County Administrative Board has decided on special regulations, including those that you as a visitor to the area must follow and respect.

In addition to what applies under other legislation, it is forbidden to:

  • damage living or dead standing or lying trees and shrubs and damage the vegetation in general, e.g. by digging up plants,
  • catch or collect invertebrates without the permission of the County Administrative Board
  • erecting a board, poster, poster, sign or making an inscription
  • digging or otherwise destroying or damaging a fixed natural object or surface formation,
  • drive a motorized vehicle on the terrain or park other than in a designated place,
  • camping and setting up a caravan or motorhome,
  • make fires other than in a specially designated place,
  • bring an unleashed dog or other loose pet,
  • without the permission of the County Administrative Board, organize competitions or other activities that may cause soil wear or may disturb wildlife,
  • to carry out scientific studies that contravene the regulations without the permission of the County Administrative Board.
