Södergarn-Fågelöudde friluftsområde

Large anthills, swimming areas and unusual mushrooms. North of Elfviksvägen are Södergarn and Fågelöudde. In Södergarn, the bedrock has elements of an unusual rock type, greenstone. This means that several unusual plants thrive here.

The area is criss-crossed by tracks, trails and bridle paths. In the north there are two bathing areas at Askrikefjärden. The larger one, Fågelöudde, has a jetty, diving tower, outdoor gym and summer kiosk. The smaller one, Södergarnsbadet, with a jetty.

Parts of the forests are wild, but there are also thinned, open hiking forests and it is possible to find really large and beautiful oaks. Many paths are close to water and are easy to walk, albeit hilly. The area is also characterized by many large anthills. Many blueberries and mushrooms grow here.

There is a nice shelter with a barbecue area near Södergarn's course yard. Right next to it is a birch meadow, Södergarnsängen, which is managed in the traditional way with felling in the spring and mowing with a scythe. Nearby is another meadow where oak trees grow.
