Tynäs ekhagar, Naturreservat och Natura 2000 område

  • Nature reserve
of 5 stars

Actions

Description

On the southern part of Tosterön, Tynäs ekhagar is located in a varied Mälar landscape with fields, pastures and groves.

The nature reserve consists of three areas, but it is mainly the western area (also the largest) that is worth a visit. The area is semi-open, hilly and contains almost 30 really old and mighty oaks.

In the immediate area there are also other fine environments with old rough. In the surrounding fields there are several oak environments that are also pleasant excursion destinations.

If you take a walk among the large oaks, you will also find large areas of hazel, juniper, sloe bushes, occasional apple trees and open flower-rich land. The area also has a rich bird life, the birds thrive in the shrub and tree-rich areas. K

The pastures in Tynäs are kept open thanks to cows and sheep grazing here. They graze down grass and shrubs and make an important contribution to the flora and fauna. The grazing animals are a prerequisite for preserving the high natural values in the future.

Sweden has more than 5 000 nature reserves and more than 4 000 different Natura 2000 areas. Some of these are both nature reserves and Natura 2000 areas.
