Description

Nynäs nature reserve lies within both Trosa and Nyköping municipalities and consists of a varied cultural landscape. The area has, except from the natural values, also of great importance for outdoor life. Nynäs is part of the ecological network Natura 2000.

There are many places to visit in the reserve. The most obvious one is perhaps the castle, but the area also offers so much more. For example, here is the museum farm Långmaren, where the land was farmed traditionally until 1967. Here you can see the circle that the oxen trampled up when they pulled the old threshing machine, and perhaps you can get a glimpse of the endangered species drumming grasshopper (Psophus stridulus) and heath pearl butterfly (Argynnis niobe), which both thrive here. A number of rare plants are also to be found here.

On Furholmen and Brevikshalvön more rare plant species are found. At Sandvik there is a campsite and bathing spots, as well as nice paths to walk on, and in Karlsfors the old mill remains, which was in use until the middle of the 20th century.
