Description

Tokanäset's beautiful beachwalk is lined with centuries-old pines with their branches stretched out over Lake Vättern. The path next to the water is patched by large stands of skavfräken (Equisetum hyemale), which have previously been used as abrasives. Here you will also find the unusual Dvärghäxörten (Circaea alpina) that blooms with small white flowers in July-August. In the bay, Black-throated Diver and Red-breasted Merganser are often seen. The Red-breasted Merganser with its sprawling hairstyle and gray-brown plumage gives a more disheveled impression than its big brother the Goosander.

Directions

From highway 50 north of Nykyrka there is a public road down to Tokanäset, but there is no parking so it is more suitable to walk or cycle here.

The public road turns into a private road before you get out on the cape. You are therefore not allowed to drive out onto the headland.
