Description
Långvrån is a small deciduous grove protected as a nature reserve. The area, like most groves, has a history as a meadow. Today, tall ash trees grow here, which together with oak, aspen, maple and alder form a shady layer of trees. Many of the grove's plants bloom before the canopy has closed and the sun's rays still reach the ground. In the spring, the ground is covered with blue anemones and wood anemones. After them, more shade-tolerant species emerge that thrive in the moist and fertile soil formed by the leaves of the trees and the diligent work of the worms. Several beautiful orchids grow here.
The nature reserve is managed by Länsstyrelsen Östergötland. There is no parking or other facilities for visitors. Many trees have fallen in the area, making it difficult to get around in some places.
