The oak meadow at Klockrike

Just south of Klockrike is Ättorpa oak pasture. In the pasture there are a number of very old and rough oaks with interesting cavities. Some of the oaks may be as old as up to 500 years old. It is exciting to stroll around the pasture and take a closer look at the old rough oaks. There is also a small pond in the pasture where you can see a number of interesting small insects that live in the water during the summer.

The gnarled old oaks are, like the city's high-rise buildings, home to a big crowd of plants and animals. On Ättorpa's oaks, a number of rare small lichens grow. Many unusual oak-dependent beetles also live here. Like the oak and its inhabitants, the vascular plants of the pasture are dependent on light and tradition in the form of grazing or mowing. Parts of the pasture in Ättorpa are very rich in species.
