The Möckeln–Åsnen Tour has been developed through a feasibility study supported by Leader Linné Småland and IKEA Älmhult AB.
Description
Möckeln–Åsnen Tour connects Åsnen National Park with the cultural landscape of Linnaeus’s home region, passing beautiful lakes, historic settings and popular attractions such as Huseby Bruk, the IKEA Museum and Råshult.
There are plenty of places to stay overnight and enjoy a meal – everything from hotels, glamping and restaurants to nature campsites, local shops and cafés.
The tour consists of three sections:
- Möckeln–Åsnen Tour, 01 | Älmhult–Vislanda
- Möckeln–Åsnen Tour, 02 | Vislanda–Ryd
- Möckeln–Åsnen Tour, 03 | Ryd–Älmhult
The tour is accessible by train, with stations in Älmhult, Diö and Vislanda. You can also combine cycling with train travel by riding shorter stretches between Älmhult–Diö–Vislanda and taking the train back to your starting point.
In Vislanda
In Vislanda, you can stay overnight at places such as Nya Vislanda Wärdshus and enjoy pizza at Restaurang Storgatan 3. You can also stock up on provisions at ICA Nära Dackehallen.
If the weather is good, take a swim at Kojtet bathing area. Sometimes referred to as the “Vislanda Riviera”, it is a former gravel pit with crystal-clear water and a sandy beach.
The stretch Vislanda–Ryd
Between Vislanda and Ryd, you cycle along the Banvallsleden, which is signposted all the way.
You begin this stage by cycling east from Vislanda, passing among other places Lake Salen. When you reach Road 23, turn west and follow the road for about 200 metres before turning onto the road towards Grimslöv. Near Skatelöv, you can visit the historic Huseby Bruk and the Husebymaden birdwatching tower.
The tour then continues south and offers several places to stay overnight, bathing spots and pleasant stops along the western side of Lake Åsnen. Here you will find, among other things, Torne Camping, Ulvö bathing area, Toftahult B&B, Ålshults handelsbod and Nordic Woods Campsite.
In Ryd
In Ryd, you can stock up on provisions at ICA Nära Ryd and Ryds kiosk. Several accommodation options are also nearby, as well as Åsnen National Park.
