The Möckeln–Åsnen Tour has been developed through a feasibility study supported by Leader Linné Småland and IKEA Älmhult AB.

Description

Möckeln–Åsnen Tour connects Åsnen National Park with the cultural landscape of Linnaeus’s home region, passing beautiful lakes, historic settings and popular attractions such as Huseby Bruk, the IKEA Museum and Råshult.

There are plenty of places to stay overnight and enjoy a meal – everything from hotels, glamping and restaurants to nature campsites, local shops and cafés.

The tour consists of three sections:

The tour is accessible by train, with stations in Älmhult, Diö and Vislanda. You can also combine cycling with train travel by riding shorter stretches between Älmhult–Diö–Vislanda and taking the train back to your starting point.

In Älmhult

In Älmhult, you can visit the world’s only IKEA Museum, and if the weather is nice, take a swim at Bökhult lakeside beach or Möckeln bathing area.

There are also two bike repair shops – Waltherssons and Punkan at Café Muff – if your bike needs a bit of care.

When it’s time to sleep, you can check in at IKEA Hotell in the town centre, pitch your tent at the peaceful Destination Möckeln, or stay at First Camp Sjöstugan.

The stretch Älmhult–Vislanda

You begin this stage by cycling north from the centre of Älmhult. After just under 10 km, you reach the charming cultural reserve Linnés Råshult, where you’ll find gardens, a café and historic surroundings. Nearby are also Taxås hill, offering beautiful views over Lake Möckeln, Såganäs nature camp, and the historic Hotell & Pensionat Björkelund.

From Linnés Råshult, the route continues north towards Diö and Liatorp. In Diö, you can take a swim at Diö bathing area and grab something to eat at Diö Pizzeria & Kiosk. You can also experience art in an unusual format at Diö Konsthall, where artworks are hoisted up a flagpole.

In Liatorp, just a few kilometres further north, you can visit Ragnarssons Café & Antik for homemade cakes, and Mejeri 1 Liatorp with its flea market and retro café. Liatorp also has a tea shop, the restaurant Bykrogen and an ICA grocery store.

In Vislanda

In Vislanda, you can stay overnight at places such as Nya Vislanda Wärdshus and enjoy pizza at Restaurang Storgatan 3. You can also stock up on provisions at ICA Nära Dackehallen.

If the weather is good, take a swim at Kojtet bathing area. Sometimes referred to as the “Vislanda Riviera”, it is a former gravel pit with crystal-clear water and a sandy beach.
