Actions

Currently

The hunting
season is underway in the forest! Elk hunting takes place between October 8th,
and January 31st.

Please pay
close attention to signs indicating that hunting is in progress. You are always
welcome to hike on our trails, but if hunting is taking place in the area, we
encourage you to choose a different location.

Here are
some tips during the hunting period:

  • Respect all signs indicating that hunting is in progress.
  • Wear bright-colored clothing to make yourself visible.
  • Stick to the designated trails.
  • If you encounter a hunter, try to make contact to determine if it's safe to continue. This can be done with a brief whistle, a wave, or, of course, by speaking to each other if possible.

Description

The sixth stage of the trail starts at the overnight cabin in Stjärneberg and initially follows a beautiful mountain ridge, eventually reaching the interesting Tjustgölen. The area around the lake is very rich in plants and birds. Just before Djurvadsnäs there are several burial cairns. The walk continues past Kråkemåla, over and along the coastal road and eventually you come to Bussviken, which was a major shipping port for cut stone. The trail continues and reaches Granholmsfjärden at Bjurhid farm. From here, the trail makes a turn around the inner part of the bay to eventually pass Kärrsvik's small village. Here there was once a shop and a loading dock for the ships that loaded wood. The walk continues a bit into the forest and then comes out at the shore of the bay. On smoothly polished sunny slabs there are good opportunities for swimming or why not stop and enjoy the beautiful view. The trail turns south here, passes some summer cottages and eventually arrives at Ekerum village, over the road to Kråkelund and shortly afterwards you arrive at the stage goal, the overnight cottage in Lilla Laxemar.

The cabin is only available to hikers on the East Coast Trail. For information about the cabin, see overnight cabin Lilla Laxemar.
