The hunting
season is underway in the forest! Elk hunting takes place between October 8th,
and January 31st.
Please pay
close attention to signs indicating that hunting is in progress. You are always
welcome to hike on our trails, but if hunting is taking place in the area, we
encourage you to choose a different location.
Here are
some tips during the hunting period:
- Respect all signs indicating that hunting is in progress.
- Wear bright-colored clothing to make yourself visible.
- Stick to the designated trails.
- If you encounter a hunter, try to make contact to determine if it's safe to continue. This can be done with a brief whistle, a wave, or, of course, by speaking to each other if possible.
Description
The seventh stage starts at the overnight hut in Lilla Laxemar. The first part of the walk goes through old pastures and then passes under one of the large power lines from the nuclear power plant in Simpevarp. The trail continues past Ströms village, over the coast road and down towards Gammal-Näs. In several places there are burial cairns that testify to old settlements in the area. Now the trail goes close to the coast and just before Gammal-Näs a deep bay cuts into the landscape, Stålglo. Don't forget your swimwear because there are opportunities to swim in the Baltic Sea. The trail continues past Ny-Näs and Södra Uvö towards the archipelago and Uthammar village. Close to the village there are still large piles of scrap stone from the time when quarrying was carried out here. The trail once again passes the coastal road and then climbs up the mountainside at Bredviken. On clear days, the view over the archipelago and out towards the national park, Blå Jungfrun, is absolutely breathtaking. Just below the mountain is the municipal bathing area Bredviken with fine bathing facilities. From Bredviksberget, the trail continues through the nature reserve north of Figeholm's community and further south along the highway between Figeholm and Fårbo. The trail continues on paths and gravel roads in a southwesterly direction and passes the E22 just after Sippetorp farm. Just before you reach Fårbosjön, you can make a detour down to the municipal bathing area for a cooling dip. When the bridge over Virån, south of Fårbosjön, is passed, it is not far to the stage goal, the overnight cottage in Hällveberg.
The cabin is only accessible to hikers on the East Coast Trail. For information about the hut, see Hällveberg overnight hut.
There is no road, so any pick-up must be via E22.
