Description

Welcome to Ishults Tingshus, the place where justice was served for 205 years.

In 1730, the first court was held in Ishult. Those sentenced to death were executed at the gallows hill in Krokstorp a few kilometers from the courthouse. The last time the judge and jury met in the building was in 1935. The courthouse and the jail are now worth seeing as architectural monuments, and a museum bears witness to the living conditions that applied in the past.

The courthouse is owned and cared for by Tunaläns Hembygdsförbund, which consists of the four local history associations in Kristdala, Tuna, Misterhult and Figeholm.

During the summer the courthouse is open to visitors, at other times of the year visits are booked in advance.
