Description
Alenäs consists mainly of lakes and open wetlands surrounded by deciduous and coniferous forest. The reserve also contains small winding former fields between oak-covered hills. Birdwatchers can find many exciting species here.
The varied and undisturbed nature in Alenäs favors bird life. Characteristic wetland birds such as whooper swan, snipe and snipe can be found here. Alenäs is a rich owl site that is well known among birdwatchers. Here you can listen for pearl owls, sparrow owls and barn owls. Pickelsboålan and the surrounding wetlands are popular resting places for swans, ducks and geese during spring and fall.
