Description
In Skårtebo there is a vicarage dating back to the 17th century and remains of a medieval fortress. The reserve has marked paths and picnic areas with tables and benches.
Skårtebo was a vicarage from the mid-17th century until 1923. In 2016, the old manor house built in 1816 burned down. However, the old nursery trees remain around the house foundation. Around the farm environment there are pastures with scattered broad-crowned deciduous trees.
In the northern part of the reserve there are some small ravines with lime and other deciduous trees. Where it is a little wetter, you will find buttercup and briar. Not far from the reserve, next to the Sämån marshes, there is a hill with the foundations of the Opensten fortress, which was built in the 14th century.
