Description
On a map from 1766 this place is mentioned as Mäster Olof Rosendahls gårdsplats. Master Olof was a master blacksmith who lived here with his family, which consisted of his wife Maria Olsdotter Broberg and their 5 children, 3 sons and 2 daughters.
The farmstead then consisted of a small farmhouse with associated brewery and pig house as well as a sheep house and coal house. The buildings have changed over the centuries and finally, in the 19th century, the farmhouse was given the design it has today.
The farmhouse was a two-storey house with a pitched roof, but around 1919 it was converted into workers' housing and took on its current appearance with a mansard roof. Four families lived in the house until the late 1950s. After that, the house was lived in sporadically until 1982, when the current owners moved in and carried out extensive renovations, including new wing buildings.
The house is beautifully located on the western tip of Jädersholmen with its own small harbor and next door to the nice village bath where you can hear the children splashing and playing in the water of Arbogaån. The village street bends 90 degrees just in front of the courtyard where a nice flowery roundel gives a manor-like feeling.
According to history, an unnamed king is said to have spent the night in the house, which is why it was named "The Castle". If you look closely, you might see the royal crown shining behind a curtain.
