Description
This very beautiful so-called "Overflow Building" was probably built sometime in the 18th century and has a unique and very unusual construction with a gigantic floor and an unusual wall construction that holds up the roof with the broken gable ends.
East of Kolladan is the road that leads north and up towards the railroad where Jäder station was. A so-called turntable at the station meant that railroad cars could be diverted on a local railroad loop all the way down to the forges on Jädersholme where the forged goods could be loaded. Listen carefully and you can hear the steam locomotives huffing and puffing as they took off towards Arboga or towards the west where Ålsäng was the next station. You could also take the train from Jäder to Valskog for 1 krona and 20 öre!
Time is taking its toll and the unique building was about to become obsolete, but through the intensive work of Jädersbruksvänner, Kolladan was saved for posterity in 2010. The entire roof was replaced and parts of the roof beams were replaced, and rotten beams in load-bearing parts of the walls were replaced.
The name Kollada comes from the fact that the building was used to store the coal used in the forges at Jädersbruk. In recent times, firewood has also been stored in this building. The building is part of the visitor area Jädersbruksvänner cares for the cultural environment and landscape to be preserved and developed for posterity and for a living countryside
