Description

Looking for the perfect picnic spot? Try Vånsjöåsen and see if it could be a candidate.

The nature reserve Vånsjöåsen contains a beautiful ridge with views and animals grazing between juniper, rosehip, rowan and pine. On the eastern side, the small Gällbäcken stream flows past. Vånsjöåsen is an unusually well-preserved part of Enköpingsåsen, which is otherwise divided by gravel pits. On ridges, the ground is often dry and has special vegetation. On Vånsjöåsen, you can see the beautiful and protected wood anemone, which flowers in abundance in April-May. But the area also boasts a wealth of flowers in summer.

Ridges have been used by people since long ago. On Vånsjöåsen there are traces of the Iron Age uplanders in the form of stone circles and erected stones.

The Uppland Trail runs through the reserve. You can follow the trail to Torslundagropen and then continue in a loop of a total of 7 km that leads out over easy field roads and country roads and back to the ridge.
