Description
The section takes you through varied forests and across bogs between Gimo and Ӧsterbybruk. Along the way, you’ll see remains from the time of the iron mills.
From the parking area, you’ll walk along a gravel country road, heading west. After 2.5 kilometres, you’ll turn onto a path, passing a clear-cut area. Once back in the forest, you’ll reach the ruins of the saw mill, and rest spot Sågarbo.
Crossing grounds rich in mushrooms and berries, and another clear-cut area, you’ll reach the wind shelter at the halfway point of the section. You’ll follow a log-driving channel through old peat harvesting ground Glamsmossen and the coniferous forest beyond, passing some great swimming and barbecuing spots. Where the trail splits shortly thereafter, turn left into Ӧsterbybruk and the old mill area. Ӧsterbybruk has a campsite, a shop, a café, restaurants, pizzerias, and accommodation at Wärdshuset.
Difficulty level: Medium, small, easy-to-walk forest paths, a few kilometres on a road.

Parking
You can park at the start, next to Gimo Manor. Parking is also available at the end of the stage in Österbybruk.
Communications
The bus stop closest to the start is called Gimo bruksgatan and is about 800 m from the start of the stage. When you get off the bus, follow Bruksgatan west towards the mansion.
There is a good bus connection between Gimo and Österbybruk. In Österbybruk the stage ends at the bus terminal.

Directions
The start of the stage is at Gimo Manor. From road 288, turn off towards Gimo herrgård and follow Bruksgatan to Gimo damm. There is a small parking lot on the right side.
To get to the stage finish, drive to Österbybruk. The parking lot is located next to the bus terminal in the middle of the community.

Som så många andra etappen av Upplandsleden - perfekt att lösa med kollektivtrafiken!
Som Mikael skriver - snårskogen är inte så kul :)
Själv övernattade jag på Gimo Herrgård och gick Dammledenslingan dagen efter - en riktigt fina slinga av Upplandsleden

Jag gick leden 19/8-20 från Österbybruk till Gimo Herrgård. Första deletappen (från Österbybruk sett) fram till vindskyddet är hyfsat trevlig, dock ganska mycket avverkad skog. Glansmossen är vacker och flottningsleden imponerande lång! Efter vindskyddet leds man in i ogenomtränglig snårskog om man följer leden. Ta istället grusvägen fram till Gimo Herrgård.
