Stadsskogen

"P Nature Reserve" is written on the sign by the road. The residential houses border the busy Norbyvägen. It seems that the sign has been misplaced! But it hasn't. The city forest in Uppsala is indeed just what the name implies, a forest in a city; its closest neighbors are residential areas and the constant noise of the city.

Welcome to the hall of pillars! Lean against the safety of a pine trunk and exchange the sounds of traffic for the chirping of the blue tit. Visit the bird ponds and say hello to the tame locals, the ducks. Hike or cycle along the forest's many paths and suddenly you're in Skåne(!), or at least that's what it feels like under the golden yellow leaves of the beech forest. Sit down on a bench by Valltjärn and imagine what life was like here in the past when the pond was a quarry where granite was quarried. Step softly over the green moss of the old Troll Forest and let the scent of the spruce spread incipient Christmas feelings.

The city forest has many different visitors. The paths are easy to follow and numerous. Signs in the area will help you find your way. There are also jogging trails, ski trails and bridle paths. The Linnéstigen Gottsundavandringen trail starts at the Gläntan parking lot and goes straight through Stadsskogen and continues out towards Hågadalen and down to Lurbo bridge.
