Description

Härjarö Nature Reserve is located on a peninsula in Lake Mälaren. It is an easily accessible and popular outdoor area with opportunities for many activities. An excursion here can be a day trip for the whole family - there is something for everyone here: hiking-friendly forests, lovely swimming spots and the opportunity to fish or canoe along the shores of Lake Mälaren.

The old coniferous forest is criss-crossed by many paths that make it easy to explore the area. In late summer it glows red, blue and yellow - there are plenty of berries and mushrooms and visitors rarely leave empty-handed. If you move carefully, you may be lucky enough to see both foxes and deer or even a stately moose.

It's hard to get lost, wherever you are you're never far from the water. Right where it is, it sparkles between the trees and you will arrive at smooth rocks or a prepared bathing area that invites you to take a dip. The bays are home to many different seabirds, such as herons and ospreys. Their calls can be heard far above the water. West of the headland are the bird-rich islands of Skaftskär, Kattan and Kattrumpan, where landing is prohibited during the breeding season, between April 1 and July 15.

The reserve has many marked paths and the Upplandsleden trail runs through the area. The marked trails are regularly maintained by the manager's supervisor on Härjarö, Jan Hellberg. The trails that are maintained (marked trails) are marked on a map on the nature reserve's information sign, which is located in several places in the reserve.

In Härjarö, there are two special places, Blåhäll and Äppelnäsgrund. Search for these names on the Nature Map and you will find information about these two bathing places.

Så vacker plats. Fin natur, många badplatser. Bra uppmärksamhet stigar och slingor. Här samlades vågskvalp mot strand, lövträdens prassel, fåglarna kvittrande. Vägen ut galet vacker.
