Description
Hammarskog Nature Reserve has a lot to offer visitors. The area is a beautiful manor landscape surrounded by varied nature with hiking trails, swimming area and nice rest areas.
Walking and hiking: There is parking at Hammarskog Manor. From here, marked hiking trails (0.4-5.6 km long) start into the forest or away along the water. One of the trails, Vilsestigen (0.4 km), teaches children what to do if they get lost in the forest.
Accessible trails: Between the manor house and the local bathing area, you can walk on a 900 m long accessible trail through the pastoral landscape. The path runs over wide wooden footbridges and on a paved path. There are rest benches along the trail. There is a rest area at the bird tower, approximately in the middle of the trail. If you follow the water from the bathing area for a few more kilometers, you will reach Vreta udd (see below). This part of the trail is not accessible.
The Forstigen (2.6 km) is adapted for prams and wheelchairs and starts at the manor house. Along the way there are rest benches and a larger rest area at Östbergstorpet with an accessible toilet.
In the north-western part of the nature reserve there is the accessible Lätta path to Stora kärret. Here you can watch birds from a platform or have coffee at the picnic table. There is a disabled parking lot and an accessible toilet along the path.
Tobogganing, skiing and skating: In winter, Hammarskog attracts with a toboggan run at the manor house and fine ski trails. At Dalkarlskärret, the first skating loop of the season is usually plowed on natural ice. You can also skate on a plowed track around Dalbyviken or into Skarholmen Manor. In good conditions, a track is plowed all the way to Stockholm. You can get information about skating and skiing tracks by phone: 018-727 06 08 and on the area's Facebook page "Hammarskog friluftsområde", which is updated when plowing and tracking is done.
Services: Parking lots, picnic areas, barbecue areas, hiking trails, bird towers, swimming area, skating loop, ski trails etc.
