Description
The Hågadalen-Nåsten nature reserve begins where Uppsala ends in the west. Hågadalen is an open landscape with fields, pastures and the quiet Hågaån river that meanders along the valley. In the more hilly Nåsten, young forest mixes with older forest and there is a network of hiking trails past open bogs and rocks.
In snowy winters, ski tracks run through the Hågadalen valley and just under a mile out to the Hammarskog recreation area. Horse riding trails also start from several places.
There are many entrances to Hågadalen-Nåsten. Here are some good places to start:
Kung Björns Hög (also called Hågahögen): Bronze Age mound located in beautiful pastures overlooking Hågadalen. Perfect for an excursion with family and friends. A good place for a picnic (if the sheep aren't too clingy), rocks to climb on and every opportunity to take short walks in the surroundings. King Björn's mound is also a good starting point for hiking and skiing in Nåsten.
Kvarnbo: The Kvarnbo vine is at its most beautiful in spring! The bluebells are followed later by all the spring flowers. But the ravine is always an exciting and peaceful place with a small rapids at the old mill.
Norra Norby gård/Soldattorpet: Starting at Norra Norby gård, you can wander out into the open Hågadalen. There are gravel roads and paths to follow. You can see far, which makes it easy to find. Feel free to try new paths.
Lurbo: From the parking lot at Lurbo you reach Predikstolen with its steep cliffs towards Nåstenkanten. This is historic land. Linnaeus led his walks here and today the Linnaeus Trail Gottsundavandringen passes by. Stone ramparts on top of the cliffs reveal that there was an ancient castle here. If you continue along the edge of the valley you come to Fäbodarna. There are no houses here, but a beautiful clearing in the forest.
Hällens gård: In the northwestern part of the reserve, at Hällens gård, there is a butterfly trail. Along the path you can see a large number of different butterfly species.
Remember that special regulations apply in the reserve!

There are several bus stops around the reserve. For example, you can take the bus either to Håga village in the north or to Lurbro bridge in the south. To get to Håga village, take the city bus to Håga farm. Just under 200 m south along the road is located. You can also take the bus to the Håga stop to get closer to Fjärilsstigen and Kvarnbo.
To get to Lurbo bridge, take the bus to the stop of the same name. Then about 200 m along a quiet asphalt road. Källbovägen is a good bus stop if you are going to Fäbodarna.
