Description
The fixed interior was given its current color scheme in 1925, at the same time that the decorative paintings in the apse, the choir, and around the triumphal arch were executed by the artist Yngve Lundström of Stockholm. The sacristy was built during the late Middle Ages; a complete renovation was carried out in 1726, and it acquired its current size and design in 1885. The porch and the tower were built in 1885. The church has had two bells in the tower since 1885. Prior to that year, there was a bell tower adjacent to the church. The small bell was cast in 1842 and the large bell in 1744. The altar table dates from 1787. The altarpiece is a plaster copy of Thorvaldsen’s Christ from 1885. The pulpit from 1699 is adorned with images of the Evangelists and Christ. It was created by a sculptor from Norrköping. It has been restored several times, most recently in 1925. The pulpit canopy was removed in 1885. The baptismal font, made of Kolmård marble, dates from the last decades of the 19th century. The pews date from 1885. The organ dates from 1886 and was built by organ builder C. Elfström of Ljungby. Renovation of the organ began in 2011, and it was rededicated the following year.
A fragment of a runestone is kept in the church’s tower chamber.
