Description

The gravel road follows the bank of Lake Unden for approximately 1.5 km. Here you can glance out over a number of smaller islands, toward the northwest you can enjoy the horizon where it is just possible to make out the other side. Large birches, black alder and pine trees frame the lake and the beautiful view. With a pair of binoculars, it can be exciting to see what can be spotted out on the islands, maybe an osprey nest, some loons or unexpected flocks of birds?

If you are out on a hot summers day, it is possible to cool off with a dip somewhere along the bank. The bottom is mostly rocky, but there are spots with a little more sand, although there is little point in looking for a sandy beach, there are none along this stretch of part rocky, part steeply sloped shoreline.

Depending on the time of year, you can pick wild strawberries, blueberries, lingonberries or blackberries. With a bit of luck, you can spot a squirrel skittering around in the trees!

Tiveden Campsite is only 3 km south, where it is possible to rent a canoe and explore the islands from close up. Be mindful of the birds nesting in the area, and avoid going ashore where you risk disturbing nesting birds during the period April to mid-July.

The gravel road is easy to walk or roll along. There is also a resting spot for horses.

Swimming gear, fire wood and binoculars.
