Description
Kärnskogsmossen nature reserve is located in the northern part of Östergötland and borders to Örebro county in the north. The flat forest area in which the reserve is located is called Tyleskogen. The bogs in the reserve are predominantly open or sparsely forested with pine or moor birch. The area is one of southern Sweden's largest bogs.
At Kärnskogsmossen, there is a handicap parking, an accessible toilet, and a wheelchair-accessible footbridge that goes out on the bog.
There are two trails in the reserve. The northern trail is 2.8 km and the southern trail is 2.4 km, and they both cirlcle around. From these there is also a 7 kilometer long connecting trail to Skönnarboleden.
The nature reserve is managed by Länsstyrelsen Östergötland.

- You may not drive a motorized vehicle. Exceptions on existing roads.
- You may not land an aircraft or operate a snowmobile, jet ski or water ski.
- You must keep your dog on a leash.
- You cannot break branches, cut down trees or damage living or dead trees and bushes.
- You can pick berries and edible mushrooms, but you cannot pick other mushrooms, mosses, plants or lichens.
- You must not play music or sounds in a disturbing way.
- You must not damage fixed natural objects or surfaces by drilling, blasting, digging, carving, hacking or painting.
- You may only light a fire in a designated fire pit. As the area was formerly a military training area, there may still be duds/grenades left in the terrain. It is therefore not safe to light fires in places other than the designated fireplaces.
