Description
This stage offers hiking in the varied Roslags nature with open landscapes and herb-rich forests. Here you can visit Roslagens Skansen, swim in Rådasjön and watch the Väddö canal.
The stage starts in Roslags-Bro and follows the shoreline of Brosjön, which is rich in birds. Rural gull paths take you further to Brölunda and Vik, where you will find Kvarnfallet. In the valley below, the former shipping route led to Norrtäljeviken. Further on, you can make a detour to Söderby-Karl church or Erikskulle, Roslagens own Skansen. At Erikskulle open-air museum, you can see the Viksbåten, a unique boat from the Viking Age that was found in Vik.
The Roslagsleden path shares a route with the old church path from Vik to Råda. In the past, the villagers used the path to get to the church in Söderby-Karl for church services on Sundays. At Tandrudan was their resting place, and even today the place is scenic and suitable for resting as there are both toilets and benches here.
At Rådasjön there is a swimming area with a shelter, a fireplace and a toilet. Next door is the historic Hagsta farm where it is possible to pitch a tent for a fee on the pitches next to the farm. The pastures are usually full of cute animals.
The journey goes through the Råda nature reserve where the cuckoo and wood starling thrive. Winding roads take you further towards Bagghusfjärden and the mouth of the Väddö canal. In the village of Flottskär you can visit the old steamboat pier where iron ore from the Gåsvik mines was shipped out during the 19th century. There is also a nice rest area with a sea view, a fireplace and benches.
The stage ends at Bagghusbron near Gåsvik, where there is also a toilet open in the summer. Nearby is the Gåsvik restaurant and design outlet.
