Description
At the northern tip of Orno, you can walk over strangely banded and beautifully polished rocks. Light bands alternate with dark ones, which are the remains of volcanic lavas. This so-called band series has made the island's geology famous and can be seen in several places along the island's western coast. But it is at the head of Ornö and on Huvudholmen just outside that the banding is best formed. The strange bands are probably 1500 million years old. Ornö huvud is protected as a natural monument.

Ornö car ferry between Dalarö and Hässelmara or Waxholmsbåt from Dalarö to Ornöboda, Kyrkviken, Lättinge or Hässelmara. On the island there is also a bus line (889) that connects to some boat trips (see Waxholmsbolagets timetable).
