Description

The reserve covers the southern part of Gymmerholmen as well as adjacent islands and skerries. The islands are rocky and sparsely vegetated. The area supports a rich birdlife, and the surrounding waters are of great importance as nursery areas for young birds.

Sheltered natural harbours are found at southwestern Gymmerholmen and southern Enkobben.

There are no visitor facilities in the reserve, apart from information signs.

Directions

Gymmerholmen Nature Reserve is located 3 kilometers south of Nämdö. The easiest way to get here is by private boat.

Regulations

To protect the Gymmerholmen nature reserve, there are rules that all visitors must follow.

In the reserve it is forbidden to:

  • deliberately disturb wildlife
  • destroy or damage fixed natural objects
  • break branches, cut down or otherwise damage living or dead trees and shrubs or damage vegetation in general
  • bring a dog or cat
  • camp for more than two days
  • moor a boat or other vessel for more than two days
  • drive a motorized vehicle
  • make fires
  • from April 1 to July 15, land on the islands east of Gymmerholmen or stay near them in a way that disturbs bird life.
