Description

A nature reserve for arable weeds? Of course!

Dalby Västermark is just an arable field, but not just any arable field. Little fertiliser has been added and chemical pesticides have probably never been used. This has allowed old arable weeds, which are now rare in Sweden, to survive in the area. Plants such as night-flowering catchfly, scarlet pimpernel, sharp-leaved fluellen, and dwarf spurge are usually only rarely found, but in Dalby Västermark they live in healthy populations, thanks to the fact that arable farming continues as it has done for hundreds of years.

The Reserve also has a pond which has been created, and which is valuable for birds and other wildlife.
