Vandringsleden genom Motala ströms ravin

An exciting hiking trail runs through the long nature reserve Motala ströms ravin. It takes you all the way from the entrance in the east at the community Ljungsbro to the entrance Ljungsjön in the west.

The first part is accessible. This means that it is possible to get around with, for example, a wheelchair or stroller. This section is about 750 meters long and there is also a toilet here. The hiking trail beyond the accessible section is marked with orange posts.

In total, the trail has 3.7 winding kilometers and several rest areas, one of which is at Jakobslund. If you walk the trail to Jakobslund and back, the distance is about 3.0 kilometers. Westwards from Jakobslund there is a circular loop at the edge of the field and back through a pasture.

You can of course also walk the trail from Ljungsjön where the trail closest to Ljungsjön has an open view of the agricultural landscape above the ravine.

If the water in the river starts to rise, it is probably because the power plant for some reason releases water into the ravine. If you are outside the marked trail, you should move to higher ground.
