Description
Ugglebo is one of Malexander's oldest farms, first mentioned in 1363. The pasture at the farm has gradually grown back since the 1960s. Now, parts of the land have been reclaimed as part of a larger project with the goal of restoring 300 hectares of natural pastures in Uppland, Södermanland and Östergötland within three years.
Östgötaleden's round loop Gransbo passes near Ugglebo farm. Nearby is also the longer Malexander-Sundsudden stage.
You are welcome to walk through the fields. There are information signs with facts about the farm, history and biodiversity. Further down you will find a map of Ugglebo farm to download as a pdf.
The gardens are equipped with self-closing gates for entry and exit. If you are walking your dog, the landowner asks that you leave it outside.
Land that has been continuously grazed by domestic animals for a long time and not ploughed or fertilized is important for pollinating insects and is characterized by a high species richness. If you want to know more, download the report Ugglebo - a place with history as a pdf, see below
