Description
Ruin of a crypt church from the 12th century. Crypts are unusual in Sweden; only Lund and former Skara cathedrals are of this type. The church was demolished in the Middle Ages, probably in connection with the construction of Alvastra. There are parts of the building in Alvastra but also Heda church. West of the church is a large cemetery that was used in the 11th and 12th centuries. Parts of grave monuments have been walled into the church and used as bases for pillars. For groups, this is a nice place to celebrate mass. The key is kept at Ombergs turisthotell.
