Description

Staying at Mjölby Hostel is an experience in itself. In the beautiful park, you can explore over twenty historic buildings, some dating back to the 18th century. Norrgårdsholme is easily accessible via a short bridge. This beloved spot attracts both locals and visitors, and in summer, you can enjoy a variety of events here. During this time, a museum and a charming café are also open.

Mjölby Hostel, housed in several of the heritage buildings, welcomes guests year-round. The former 19th-century dairy farm now serves as the reception and offers seven guest rooms. You can also stay in one of the picturesque 19th-century cottages - Svaltorpet, Back, or Heddastugan - where you can truly immerse yourself in history.

Mjölby offers a delightful small-town charm with cozy cafés, restaurants, and unique shops. Everything is close, intimate, and personal. The surrounding area boasts fascinating historical sites, such as Birger Jarl’s birthplace in Bjälbo and the historic town of Skänninge. The landscape features golden rapeseed fields and deep forests, rich with ancient relics, runestones, and ruins. Nearby, you’ll find the bird-rich Lake Tåkern with its beautiful Naturum visitor center, as well as Vadstena’s medieval monastery. From Mjölby, you also have easy access to fantastic hiking on the Östgötaleden trail and the Signature Trail Omberg.

Directions

Mjölby is a key transportation hub, easily accessible by train. If you are arriving by car, the town is conveniently located along the E4 highway.

Mjölby Hostel is situated on a green islet in the river Svartån, just a few minutes from the town center. A bridge connects the islet to the city, and a scenic 10-minute walk from Mjölby Station, passing through the beautiful Gästis Park, will bring you right to the doorstep. The bridge also allows car access for guests with business on the islet, and parking is available just across the bridge.

Parking at the Heritage Park is free for guests. If you have an electric vehicle, several charging stations are available throughout Mjölby (fee applies), though there are none directly at the hostel.
