Stångåstråkets centrala delar

This part of Stångåstråket runs between Nykvarnsparken in the north and Tannefors slussar in the south. The trail is one of Linköping residents' most popular home routes. Here, sun worshippers mix with Nordic walkers, strollers with joggers and dog owners with cyclists. Stångåstråket offers wonderful water contact and a string of places to visit, such as the Kinda Canal locks, bathing areas, marinas, parks, cafés and restaurants, outdoor areas and hiking trails. Everything is easy to discover and experience, however you choose to travel.

At Nykvarnsparken is the lowest lock in the Kinda Canal. Next to the lock is an exciting stream. The stream is a so-called bypass where fish can swim past Nykvarn's power plant dam and turbines. There are also benches and picnic areas, bridges and information about the site.

Along the eastern promenade, about halfway between Nykvarnsparken and Tannefors locks, is Ladugårdskälla. There used to be a dance hall and skittle alleys here, and well-drinking was organized. In 2015, Ladugårdskälla was reopened after a thorough renovation and now you can once again drink water here. Above the spring there is an airplane-themed playground and right next door is Åbacka café.

At Tannefors locks you can enjoy the beautiful park environment with café, piers and a gazebo. At the magnificent lock staircase you can also hop on the canal boat M/S Kind, which usually stops here on its journey along the Kinda Canal. Opposite Tannefors locks is Snugganparken. Here you will find an outdoor gym, football pitch, beautiful plantings and seating.
