Description
The iron ore deposit in Nartorp was discovered in the early 1800s. Mining took place between 1817 and 1927 when it was abandoned. From 1817 to 1911 it was owned by various stakeholders. Then the mine was bought by a German company that operated it until its closure in 1927. Over the years, about 300,000 tons of iron ore were mined, most of which was shipped to Germany.
Documents and photos are preserved in Nartorp-Börrums hembygdsföreningen Read more here about the mines (nartorp.se)
