Malmviksängen

Here you will find a traditionally cultivated meadow as it was common before modernized agriculture. The availability of meadows was crucial to the number of animals a farm could accommodate. It was in the meadows that the necessary winter feed for the cattle was collected.

The meadow was managed according to a recurring pattern. The meadow was cut in the spring, mowed in the summer and then the cattle were often let out to graze.

Today, the meadow is managed by volunteers. Without this work, the meadow would quickly grow back and several species would be outcompeted.

If you visit the meadow on a summer's day, you can see a rich flora of different vascular plants, including orchids such as the Virgin Mary's keys and night violet.
