Högstugans naturreservat

The Högstugan nature reserve is located in Ulrika. Here you can enjoy all the smells and sounds of the old-growth forest.

The reserve is named after the croft Högstugan that was previously located here. The area is hilly with heights and slopes covered with old coniferous forest and scattered deciduous trees. There is also a lot of dead wood. In the area you can find species such as witch hazel, spring pea, marsh marigold, wood anemone, fern and the small forest orchid knotweed. In parts of the area there are also a lot of bilberries. In addition, a wide range of rare mushrooms have been found in the area, including the black-scaled mushroom, the ragwort mushroom and the purple-footed mushroom.

Parking is available at a turnaround on a forest road. From the parking lot there is a 1.7 kilometer long hiking trail through the reserve. The trail is marked with orange color. Along the trail you can also make a short detour to Linköping municipality's highest point with a nice view of the surrounding forest landscape.
