Description
Encounter the diversity of the precipices and the natural forest next door, experience the drama of Lake Vättern and visit fine viewpoints. A couple of hundred meters after the start, the trail runs in a so-called slukränna, a trace of the Ice Age. North of Pers sten follows a magical and very beautiful stretch down to Älvarums udde. Lake Vättern can be seen between the trees of the deciduous forest and stately spruces. At Älvarum's headland, you can go down to the shingle beach to swim or pull up a dinner fish. Just north of the headland is Storpissan nature reserve. The Storpissan stream, which runs along the northern border of the reserve, forms a strong stream in spring that flows straight into Lake Vättern. Make a detour to Marberget's cliff, with magnificent views of Lake Vättern and the Omberg forests. On the way home you pass Borggården, the most well-preserved of the mountain's three ancient castles, and the limestone bog in Mörkahålkärret nature reserve.
