Agenda 2030 Mål 12: Hållbar konsumtion och produktion

The municipality is a major consumer of goods. Setting relevant sustainability requirements in public procurement (target 12.7) is one way to promote sustainable consumption and production patterns. By imposing requirements on public bodies, businesses can more easily make the transition to more sustainable consumption.

The municipality is working on several of the targets under goal 12, including target 12.4, which concerns environmentally friendly management of all types of waste. Sweden has come a long way here and we are good at collecting and sorting our waste.

The municipality works preventively against littering by providing waste bins around the communities and also by conducting information campaigns and litter picking days. In preschools, work is being done to increase children's understanding of waste and the importance of throwing everything away in the right place, which also contributes to target 12.5, to significantly reduce the amount of waste by preventing, reducing, reusing and recycling waste.

In addition to the municipality being responsible for waste management from households within the municipality, the municipal organization is also working to reduce the waste that comes from the activities internally (target 12.5).

In 2021, requirements for renewable fuels have continued to be set and in November a test week of electric cars was held for the municipality's operations as a step towards more electric cars in the municipality's vehicle fleet.
