Description

On the northern shore of Lake Borasjön, on the border between Närke and Västergötland, Ramundeboda, or as it was also known, St. Antonii Monastery in Tiveden, was founded in the 15th century. The Tiveden brothers' main task was to house travelers and provide them with spiritual and lay food. The Reformation led to the closure of the monastery in 1529, and it was succeeded on the site by the Bodarne inn, which operated until the 1860s. Today, only the remains of the foundations and a cellar vault remain on the site of the former monastery. In the cemetery from the 1680s was the church that was moved to Laxå in 1899. In the timbered parish house next door there is now a coffee shop.

Ramundeboda is located next to E 20, four kilometers south of Laxå. Swimming is possible in Lake Borasjön. There is a parking lot. Interesting and restored monastery ruins. Possibility to stay overnight in connection with Ramundeboda parish cottage during the hiking season. Lunch of the day, coffee service, waffles and homemade bread. Fresh water next to the serving area. Information: [info@sockenstugan.se] or www.cafesockenstugan.se, tel 076-110 76 33.
