Description
Just over a kilometer south of Svartå there is a 400 m long dead end trail that leads to an area with several mine holes and warp piles.
Bojegruvan (Boijgruvan) and Kärrgru- van, 1 km south, both belonged to the Guld- smedsboda iron mine field, which was worked from the 1660s by Tiveden's great patron Anton von Boij. Later, the mining interests were linked to Svartå mill and the cabins in Mullhyttan and Dormen. In the 1830s, an artificial passage was built from Åråsa bridge to Kärrgruvan to drive the pumps in the 138 meter deep mine. Mining in the Guldsmedsboda minefield was closed in the 1850s.
