51. Kölnavattnet

Follow the Berslagsled trail south, towards the lake and windbreak, where you can overnight and have a BBQ. At night, if you’re lucky, you can hear the barn owl and pygmy owl during the early spring and the nightjar in the summer. In the lake, in front of the windbreak you can observe goldeneye ducks and green sandpipers.

Continue down the Berslags trail toward the next lake and enjoy the sense of wilderness. The area is part of the typical nature found in Tiveden, aged pine forests with a groundcover of blueberries and lingonberries. This might be because you are right on the border of Tiveden National Park. Wander along the path and don’t forget to look out for birds such as the crested tit, willow tit and bullfinch who thrive in deep forests. On the ground, keep your eye open for the sweet little flower Linnaea Borealis. As you walk you will detect the smell of wild rosemary and cloudberries. The rock faces are covered in a carpet of lichen, which is sensitive to wear. It can take decades for a lichen cover to regrow if it is worn off.

Don’t wander further than your feet can carry you, even if it is enjoyable. You will have you take the same route back.

The trail is marked and the walk to the windbreak is through easy terrain.
