Description
An interesting memorial from ancient times is the cave in Flishult "Klostergrottan". The cave is a natural formation in the rock and a large block of rock has been pushed out of a rock face, leaving a large cavity with a protruding roof. The cave, which is thus completely open at the front, is approximately 6 meters wide and 3.5 meters deep and has a height of 2-3 meters. The extruded boulder lies in front of the opening like a table.
An archaeological investigation was carried out in the early 1930s and several signs were found that the cave had been inhabited during the Neolithic. The sparse finds consisted of arrowheads, chips and fragments of flint, pieces of greenstone axes, pieces of bone and charcoal. It was believed that the cave hardly served as a residence for any length of time, but served as a place to spend the night when hunting and fishing.
