Description

Road description Preferably start at Norraryds Camping. Cross road 120 and follow the bicycle path towards Ryd center. Some parts of the way are the so called Holländarevägen. In the 17th century this was a transport way from Huseby bruk, at the northern part of lake Åsnen to the coast and Bodekull (Karlshamn). You pass by Norraryds old station house and Hönshylte skans, a medieval fortress. In lake Hönshyltefjorden you see Ryds trademark: the shark. Go to Ryds center and turn left at Västergatan and continue on Brunnsgatan. At the end of the street you see Almundryds kyrka, a church from 1830. Visit the Hembygdsgården, a local history museum with many interesting environments. Brunnsområdet was established in the late 19th century. Here you find a remains from an old mineral spring, a health well where people, mainly from the middle class, came and drank from the well. Today you find here, among other things, a boarding school.

Follow the bridges to the other side of the lake. Stay on the small road through the forest for about 1 km, then turn left and follow the road through the villages Brorsmåla and Vrångaböke. North of Brorsmåla is an old dolerite quarry. Shortly before road 120 turn left onto the bicycle path on the old railway embankment. Two beautiful railway bridges are leading you over the river Mörrumsån. After the bridge you can take a detour to Blidingsholm. Follow the sign to the right side through the forest and then right again. Here you are passing Brotorpets kanal, a little rarity. Cross road 120 until you reach the beautiful stone bridge with its eight arches. Turn back to the bicycle path on the railway embankment and continue your way to Norraryds Camping. During excavations on the peninsula artifacts from the stone age have been discovered. About half of the tour is on car-free bicycle paths, the other half on smaller asphalt roads. Shorter parts on gravel roads. The tour is marked.
