Description

Welcome to Konga! This is a mill town with a long history where Dång's bridge from the 1840s lies like a jewel in the middle of the historic landscape. South of the bridge is a beautiful brick building which, for centuries, used Ronnebyån's water as a power source for various industrial purposes, including blast furnaces and foundries. The modern Konga arose in connection with the opening of a paper pulp factory in 1888. Later, sulphite spirits, prefabricated wooden houses and parts for the automotive industry were also produced there, with several hundred employees. Today, the largest employer in the town is Kongamek, which, among other things, manufactures wagons, whose headquarters you see on the other side of the river. In Konga you will find, among other things, a shop, a school, an outdoor pool and a cinema. If you follow Ronnebyån's eastern side north, you will reach Dångebo and Näset's nature camping after about 1.5 kilometers.
