3 Architecture Walks in Kristinehamn

Welcome to Kristinehamn, where the streets are lined with fascinating buildings showcasing architecture from many different eras. Here, grand stone buildings coexist with colorful wooden facades, revealing traces of both the Swedish Empire and the post-war welfare years. Through three different walking tours, you’ll have the chance to discover some of the city’s most interesting buildings – from the majestic to the modest, from merchant houses to bridges, churches, and springs.

The three walks are marked with different colors in the Naturkartan app and take you through the older quarters of Kristinehamn. Each route passes through the main square – the heart of the city – before winding off in its own direction. Together, they form a map of the city's soul.

Every building has its own story. Some are about architecture, others about people, events, or craftsmanship. Some are touching, others slightly humorous. Be sure to look up – at the rooflines, the woodwork, and the old dates. Keep an eye out for the small silver plaques and oval signs that offer extra stories.

No matter which of the three walks you choose first: walk slowly, pause, and let the city speak.
